How do you make money on your blog? Currently I'm not doing anything to monetize my blog reviews.
Curious however what you are using and your experience with it. Thanks! Rob

I hear you about Adsense; it's definitely the most commonly used method. Adsense is alright if you are in the right niche or have tones of traffic I'd say. Lots of popular sites sell advertisement directly through banners and other traffic generating forms of advertising.

I've seen a lot of people using Pay per post or similar thing. Everyone seem to like it a first but it has a lot of downsides (bother readers, low PG = low pay etc.).
I'm clueless when it comes to money blogging. Oh sorry, I'm too negative I think !

The Pay Per Post thing definitely looks interesting, but I think you'd need to use it very carefully. It'd be easy to alienate readers, who after all need to have a level of trust in what you write. Explicitly flagging the post as advertising should help (as opposed to simply having a link to "disclosure statement" or some other meaningless phrase).

Hi Pete,
I agree with you on that account. The best blogs for pay per post advertising model are Random Blogs. Blogs that are like "What I think is cool on the internet" or something along those lines. People coming know they are going to a random mix of sites and blogs from around the globe so it makes it easier to sell lots of posts once you get PR without alienating your guests. The flip side is these blogs usually have low paying keyword terms in adsense so it's a different model and depending on niche sometimes you can get alot more per review if your one of the authorities in a profitable niche. If you want adsense it should be on a niche that has high paid keywords, different types of cancer, mortgages in California and the like. Personally I'm all about cutting out the middleman and just going for direct commerce between people who contact you. Thanks for your comments Pete! Quote:

Text Link Ads and direct advertising is my highest earner

Biggest money earner for me is selling text links on my own. It's grown a lot in recent months, and since I have 8 blogs, I can offer an advertiser a package deal with a lot of value.

adsense (even though I can't physically hold it yet) and TLA were before they decided to be evil and ban me (although I think I'm back up now - noones bought links though - funny that!). I need to find a regular earner now to pay for hosting. I'm ok for the next few months but I'm gonna be screwed soon!
