There isn't really much a point in monetizing too early I don't think. Unless you are in a real niche now it's going to take forever to get noticed anyways so just build something you like. If it's simply $$$ easier ways then blogging.

I think it depends on what your goal is. If you want to build up a lot of readers, sometimes monetizing it too early is a turn-off to some people. If you are building multiple blogs for the purpose of making money then I would monetize them from the beginning with a lot of good content.

I believe you should monetize from day 1. The key is figuring out the monetization method and keeping the amount of ads reasonable.

I have ad spots in place for design purposes, then I can design around the ad spots. As well, I sell in depth reviews of websites and guest post a little bit. If you're going to do a blog for money, might as well start early.

Default Re: do you monetize early?

It depends how you monetarise your blog as probably you do not find any advetisers or Pay per Post customers from day one?
Putting a Adsense, affiliate or "Advertise Here" banners from day one is reasonable as you do not have to change the design later.

I started monetizing early, but I think it's better to get readers first and then monetize.

Monetize from the start while still pressing hard on getting readers is the way to go if you have a good one that ppl are after....
