Default What's Your Adsense Units CTR?

I have been using adsense for content for few months now. I had never tried other adsense for search or referrals, so I'm curious as to how well those actually do. If they have a decent CTR, I might consider them (maybe swap out one of my adunits). Referrals seem to pay a lot more than what I'm getting per click right now...but how often do people click them?

I personally didn't think people would click on link units, but after some experimenting, it turns out that they are clicked more often than my image/text ads, which I found to be bizarre.

For me in May (done via channels per ad unit):
link box - 0.4%
vertical text/image banner - 0.27%
top text/image banner - 0.13%

Mine CTR is 1.17%. It also depends on the traffic and your blog content and Ad placement. Some also have CTR up to 5%. Anything between 1%-2% is healthy rate.

The problem with referral ads, is that people might click on them, but htey have to actually SIGN UP before you get any of that money.

I made about $6 with adsense in may, which is a lot more than the $1 I started with in november. There are still a few more things I'd like to try, and I'd love to figure out which traffic source in the one clicking on the ads.

Well I gave it up for a while to concentrate on my studies but I was creeping up to just over $5 dollars a month on my smart home blog. So my aim is to not only ony achieve that again but to try and succeed it but its difficult when your blogs haven't been updated in a while. As for referrals I personally have never had any luck with them, the same goes for amazon ads. Pay per click really is the way to go in my opinion.

Well, earlier in May I was up around 2%, but by the end of the month I finished with 1.37%. I don't really know if that is good or bad, but it was better then nothing and just shows how much more work I have to do.

I have 3.54% for content but I barely have any impressions so I don't really think is is accurate. I have 14.29% for search but it is the same thing.

The biggest disadvantage for me is the lack of targeting ads, which results in low CTRs.

Ads for Japanese music are terrible, they are incredibly irrelevant. In May in was only worth $0.33

The ads in a Asian celebrity blog are decent, but low paying. The image ads are particularly terrible since they were rarely relevant. 3/4 in the month I switched to text-only, which seemed to increase the CTR a bit. The celeb blog got about $38 in May, so I'm glad it will cover my future image hosting and domain name costs. Sadly, the higher paying ads are probably least likely to be clicked, since people aren't looking to buy things when they visit my blog...

If AdSense ads are not converting then look to other advertisers that better suit your needs, AdSense can work but is a lot of work to get placed and set initially (ie. converting well by "tweaking"). I utilise AdSense on pretty much all my pages but recently have been trialling pages with none and utilising ads from other advertisers and it seems Tobe paying off in the majority of instances, not all I may add..

AdSense isn't what it used to be and alternatives can convert exceptionally well. Try removing the AdSense and displaying others and see what the results are, you may be surprised. I took mine off a page that was producing $180 (ish) a month alone and replaced it with two adverts for the same advertisers (just bypassing Google) and the return after one months testing is nearly double the AdSense

I have been looking for an alternative to Adsense, hopefully I'll be able to find one with better ads for my site.
