Default Ever use AdToll or Commision Junction?

I've been using both and getting some results, but haven't earned a cent so far. I wrote AdToll and here's their response:

Your site is approved but your ad groups are not getting any views and are actually excluded from the directory right now. Your ad groups need to be active to be able to produce any results.
I have no idea what that means. Remember, I'm a noob. Any advice on either program?

It means you have created an ad group, but you have not put the ad code on your blog, that is why that ad group is not getting a single view.

Being excluded from the directory means that when advertisers search for sites to advertise on, your site will not be listed because it does not have an active ad group.

My advice: go add the ad group code to your blog now

Add the ad group? I've already added the ad code to my site. Isn't that the same thing? If not, then what and where is the ad group code?

Also, I was given this "how-to" by AdToll, though I'm not certain what it means:

Once you have done that all you need to do is upload the modified page to your web server, normally using an FTP client such as wsFTP or LeapFTP. In some cases you might use a web editing tool to edit your web pages but the theory is the same.
