Default Google ads in the article?

How do you feel about a rectangle Google ad being placed in an actual article and the text going around it? Like an image but a Google ad instead?

I don't see any reason to. It'll make reading a little harder for regular readers, won't catch the attention of passerbys like a picture would, and doesn't seem any more likely to get clicks than a side ad would.

The only way I see it being really effective is if you don't have room in the sidebar for ads.

I made a thread about this on DP, and the feedback I got was that in-post ads are intrusive, epecially if you have most of your ad units 'above the fold'. For that reason, I removed my in-post ads and I also saw an increase of the average time spent on my site per visitor

Most readers would tell you it's distracting. I don't really care personally. Oddly most writers would tell you it's the money spot

I noticed that too. I think in-post ads work well for blogs with little or no images. The in-post is very valuable to the bigger boys of blogging - like John Cow and Chow.

I use a different kind of ads in my post not square, but link unit and the bottom of the post.

That's what I would recommend, ads on single pages. It will look more professional.

Yeah I agree with what sukosaki says. Blogs aren't really hugely designed for making money via adsense (it does happen, but you have to be rather niched). The best way is to have multiple networks making you $10 a month rather than 1 making your $100 month. That way if one goes pear shaped, you will only stand to lose $10/month rather than $100/month

i totally agree with what liquidkiddie said above, this is called risk-spreading and is also used in the stocksmarket. dont be ignorant and spread your risk. who knows what happens tomorrow with your (single) source of income?
