Since posting this in March I've only had one offer to watch a video for $0.40. Looks like its dead in the water, just lacking advertisers.

It seems as if it was either somethign google had in the works or have picked up on since. Now through adsense you can have youtube ads on your site.

Just trying this out on one site but will see how it goes.
