Smile Sites claiming to earn alot, are they for real?

Does anyone wonder if these sites that claim to earn thousands of dollars per month through ad revenue alone on a basic blog are telling the truth? Part of me wonders if they aren't generating hype for their blog by making up stories of success. Its human nature to be optimistic and see someone else claiming to do well, so we try to mimic them. To me this is a good way to bring traffic back to your site...For some reason though, I find income in the thousands of dollars per month range just hard to believe...

What do you all think?

Its for real, and its absolutely possible to do. I don't know which blogs you are thinking of, sure there might me some frauds out there, but a lot of bloggers are making a good living from blogging.

Sadly, I'm not one of them - yet.

But with the way your blog is coming along it's only a matter of time until Vikingblogger is in the same league with shoemoney and johnchow.

Best of luck

I feel like a lot of these blogs are indeed lying to the viewers for shock value. Taking a look at some start-ups like theuniversitykid.com, it really seems to me like the numbers are all botched and there is no way this kind of revenue is actually pouring in.

Yes, there are bloggers who make thousands of dollar from ad revenue. I'm near to earning 1000 US$ for this month of February. Considering that this is only my hobby, I'd say blogging has a lot of potentials especially when you make it full time. I'd probably give up my current work when I'm earning enough from my blog. But before you start making money from your blog, your blog should have the essential elements that makes a blog make money.

Good luck.

Nice try, but I make zilch off the blog itself... most of my earnings are from eBooks and website flipping.

Then again, if you read it a bit more carefully, you'd probably know that.

I believe that they are making the income that they claim. Some bloggers like to give that information out to inspire others. For the most part I think most bloggers that are making money with their blog do not disclose it.

Actually, a lot of these bloggers are fake. ShoeMoney always seems to say he makes a load of money but many people are still claiming he has to live with his mother. That is just what I'm hearing around the block though.

"not yet", that is right. But I believe that if you're in here conversing with others about blogging that you'll soon enough become successful doing it. I have to admit I became a lucky making an Obama blog. I was for the guy from the beginning and once others started to like him also I got a huge amount of traffic from digg. Like he says, "WE CAN all do this if we just worked together." I see change on the horizon!
