Default High Paying Adsense Keywords...My Butt!

I know that no one can provide a definitive answer for this, so I will settle for some philosophical ramblings.

I have set up a blog a month ago but never really did anything with. This blog is set up to for some of the high paying keywords in the $20-50 range according to my research. I had some poor traffic stat, but now that I started working on it yesterday I received 270 uniques and I am already near that number for today. Traffic has really caught on, thank goodness.

My only concern is that I am getting an average of 6 cents per click on for Adsense. Does Google hold back until you have proven yourself.

I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience in targeting the high paying keywords and if you ever started getting the high paying clicks, and if so what did you have to do, or how long did you have to wait?

I haven't targeted any keywords specifically like that. I did write a post about student's and money, because 'student money loan' type phrases seem to be high on those kinds of lists, but to my knowledge nobody has clicked any.

I don't put a lot of faith in those lists anyway. I tend to think that is the add is trying to sell something to the viewer, whether it's a university degree, Ebook, book, figureine or whatever, then that advetiser it prepared to pay a little more than one who makes their money off passive income like adsense. Direct sellers are more likely to pay for more expensive adds.

EDIT: I should clarify a bit.

On my corollax blog, most of the adds seemt o be about buying WoW gold, DnD miniatures, buying dice etc, and the average pay per click for that blog is higher than NDF, which has a broader range of adds, and a higher click through rate.

The list that I used is the one included when you purchase the Rich Jerk eBook, and by some odd coincidence I am in fact targeting the "student loan" type phrase. I am however trying a different angle to it.

I found that most of these type of blogs are really boring. I took a more humourous route with mine, although in the end I think that style of blog I have created for my chosen keywords may lend itself to being a little off target. I figure I will have more fun writing this blog than I would if I were to write a boring technical: "here is how you get or consolidate a student loan" type of blog.

Anyways feel free to check it out: Student Loan Savings:

In regards to my adsense rant from before, I managed to get 4 clicks on the ads yesterday, and ended up with an average of $0.34 per click, which is better but no where near the expected $20-50 range. I read a little bit about Google Smart Pricing yesterday and I figure that this must play a factor in the amount I am earning.

I am pretty excited about this blog as it has really taken off like a rocket with an average of 270 uniques and 450 page views over the last few days. I have only had 4 return visitors, which I think is fantastic, because I will not have to update as often.

I have another problem aside from the adsense issue. I am only used to monetizing "make money style" blogs, and I am not quite sure how I should be monetizing it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
