Ads are OK with me as long as they're not those
peel corner popups or payperpost I blacklist any blog that has those. Payperpost: It is not honest from the getgo even if you think you are giving honest opinon, the waters are muddy. Payperpost is blurring the line between content and ad. And those peel things are just plain annoying. I predict they will go the way of popup window ads.

I don't know about not monetizing too early, but I do agree that some of the ad types are annoying. Personally, I'm all for advertising as long as you're open about it, and it doesn't hurt the content you are trying to provide. I've tried many an ad network, and even offer private advertising on my blogs, so it's possible to make money, just don't make it your only goal I guess.

Putting ads on from the beginning, and developing good content and a good readership is better than hitting people in the head with ads later. IMO anyway.

I have 400 RSS subscribers and about 15,000 visits per month on my site.

This week I put up my first AdSense ad.

The reason why you shouldn't try to monetize right away is one of focus. Too many people think of blogging as a way to make money and the focus on the money first and the content and community second.

If you do that, your content will suffer and you'll never make the money.

In addition to my lone adsense ad I put on the site this week (no one has yet made a peep about it), I've begun the process of applying to affiliate programs and other ad networks.

It is all rather a pain and takes time. I'm going to do it right and not half assed. I've set a goal of making the ads on my site be a reflection of my site.

The one problem I have is that I will have to eventually get a new WordPress theme. I have gotten a lot of comments on the look of my site, but it just isn't designed for ads. I'm going to have to figure out a way to keep the basic feel of my site, avoid looking like another web2.0 site, and still try to optimize ad space.

If you're going to use ads and don't want to make it a big bother, just put some Adsense ads at the end of the post right before the comment area. It doesn't really bother people and you'll get some decent click throughs as well...

I think the general thing to do in the beginning is to put Google Adsense or no ads... whichever seems fine lol

Pay per post might be an added income to bloggers who likes to blog or write, but can't just rely on it to produce a quality contents at your blog, readers might scare of it and run away.

Well, you have to pick and choose certain ones, NOT every single one... and if you need a list of some paid review sites, check out Requirements, Pros and Cons for Paid Review Sites – Part 1 that'll give you a start...
