Depends on the type of advertisers you have on your site. PPC advertisers will only pay you if there is a qualified click from your site to theirs. But some advertisers pay per impression...in other words they don't necessarily care if someone takes action from your site, they just want eyeballs on their ad. I've not been impressed with the latter, since the payout is usually much lower (as you can imagine). |

Which is fair enough. I don't think i'd ever pay for someone to host and advert and pay for people visiting their site unless their site was totally aimed at marketing other peoples sites and didn't ahve its own content.

Page impressions are looked at like how many times your ad would appear to your audience. Essentially, the more times it appears, the better the chances are that ad gets stuck in your readers head.

BlogHer ads are a good example of this - especially as it's a blog network. I always have their ads stuck in my head. We have them running on Five Blondes if you want to take a look. They also have ads for posts of different publishers under the graphic. |
