Default Making lots of spamblogs

Over at another forum they are talking about a great program that creates lots and lots of blogs automatically. So they get lots of backlinks and things like that.

I have a feeling that if Google or any other affiliate program catches these guys they will lose their accounts.

Am I right or can you make a bunch of spam blogs with crappy content and get lots of traffic ?

On that note, can someone explain in laymans terms about these spam blogs, I posted some here in the past that come up in my google alerts, and can't believe the garbage contained in them.

Are these only for the purpose of backlinks?

I'd say spam blogs are a waste of time. If it's just recycled content the se's will never pick you over other people. If you change titles and stuff like that but then with that amount of work why not just target some small niche?

There are so many people on the net now the super easy automated money to some extent I think is rare.

Link farms are for the purposes of backlinks, to artificially generate backlinks between a group of sites. These days Google will discount the value of link farms.

Spam blogs are intended to hit long-tail keywords, and do show in search engines for some. Not many, but when you can auto-generate the blogs by the dozens, you don't need each to rank for many keywords to generate a net total profit.

Google will remove spam blogs from their index when they realize what they are, but the people who own them just make more.

Thanks Jay and Rob! I figured as much, but it is amazing to me the amount of them that come through on the alerts. And they are all the same thing, and I worried for weeks about duplicate content, and even took my lumps by deleting almost all of my posts on a well ranking blog to transfer it to my own domain.

A few months back I stumbled onto a forum run by a guy who recruited people to start spam blogs and link farms using automatic software. All the sites linked to each other, so the entire group was helping everyone's sites.

I think the group leader, the guy who started it all, was making about $15 a day from Adsense, and that was after six months or so.

having a link from a spam blog can actually hurt your rankings though, right?

There are a lot of people online who think that, but in general Google does not hold you responsible for blogs that link to you (under the theory that you aren't in control of links to your blog).

Google will recognize link farms and discount the value of those links, though, and might very well penalize the blog that's benefiting from the link farm (since that's almost always owned by the same person).
