Default Smiley Central

Hi!

I just got set-up with NeverBlue Ads and I embedded Smiley Central code in my right-hand sidebar. They're super cute and should bring in some income. I just realized though that in IE6.0 and IE 7.0, there's this transparent *mask* (for lack of a better word) on top of the ad banner. I remember about 2 yrs ago, IE was "updated" and websites had to add a snippet of code to their site to eliminate this additional thing. I think I'm losing clicks since to activate the banner, a user in IE needs to click it twice. Once to get rid of the mask and then once to click the banner to get to the smilies. Does anyone remember this issue from back then? I'm running a wordpress blog and I noticed it happens when I embed YouTube videos, too. I look forward to hearing from someone who's in the know!

Thank you,
Heidi

I found the solution! Visit: Adobe - Developer Center : Preparing your website to handle the Microsoft changes to Internet Explorer

OK, I just figured out a much better solution. Instead of embedding a static ad (only 1) with the <object> or <embed> tag, embed a rotating ad (that includes at least 2 different banners) and choose the script tag code. This is a sweet solution that totally solves the "click to activate" transparent mask that requires a visitor to click a banner twice. Because, the pesky little problem "click to activate" only applies to the object, embed, and applet tags!

Thanks for sharing and is it converting well say in comparision to adsense or kontera? I can see how conversions would increase considerably if you reduced the # of clicks required.

Well, it's not converting @ the moment, but I just fixed the "bug" and will not really be able to tell until I give it a little time. So far, Google Adsense is doing well, Kontera not bad, but not as good (about a quarter that of Adsense), and it's too early to say for the Smiley Central. However, it's not fair to say... it does depend on traffic levels and will also differ depending on the type of readers that visit your blog! But, I LOVE the cuteness and so, it's all worth it for now with the Smilies and Zwinkies!
