Default Where should I put my ads?

Hi folk... I need some advice!

Okay, I signed up with the evil Adsense... I'm so anti-ads it actually hurts but oh well, it's worth a try, right?

The thing is, I just don't know where to put the ad(s) on my blog. Right now, just for a try, I settle for the lower part of my right sidebar, probably the worse place marketing-wise

I don't want to bother my readers too much, yet if I have ads, may as well have people click on it.

I'd appreciate if you could give me some ideas, based on my layout! The blog is in my signature.

Thanks !

where you place your ads is a balance. You need your users to see them if they are going to make you any money. Thats why evil popups worked so well. But if you annoy your users they will all go away, which is also bad. It tricky but I am sure you'll figure it out.

Good luck
Zach

The upper left side of your site or float ads to the left in your paragraphs.

Zhu,

Make them blend in so they don't stand out as ads for starters. Also mark every ad block as a channel so you know where your clicks are coming. Say you get 3-5 clicks a day and they are all from one channel... You could get same results with only the ads that matter.

Try them in different locations but try not to get ads before the content. I hate that

Hi Zhuli,

Have you thought about maybe trying kontera ads for your blog.

Unless your blog is completely niched out, the ads for blogs arent very good.

If I had your artistic talents I would definitely setup a t-shirt shop.

Thanks all for your suggestions!

Sorry for replying so late to this thread, but we have been quite busy this week with the first snowstorm of the season (yep, seriously!) and shoveling the 25cm of snow did take a lot of energy ;-)

I like the tee-shirt suggestion, but I find the prices very high (for the buyers) and the commission extremely low (for me!). However, I'll look into it.

I'm gonna give a shot to all the suggestions here and I'll give you a feedback later in the WE.

Thanks for your help guys!

if you have not already please try and make sure you put some ads on the left-hand side. people typically read left or right or at least they do in English so it's a great place. a friend of mine makes most of her adsense money from the left-hand channel. basically anything left side bar is good.

Your ads should appear within the area of the the page that shows up first without scrolling down. Usually right on the center of the screen if you are serious about making money with clicks. If you put it anywhere else, then you'll be wasting your time and money (time is money )

Blend your ads within the content so that user can not tell the difference in adsense and your normal links ok thats a little cheating but it doesnt hurt anybody...
