Hi Educator, the right side because the vast majority of blogs have their layout with the sidebar to the right of the content; it's what people are used to. By putting a 300 box up there and giving it the same kind of header as your sidebar categories, archives, blogroll, etc., it will usually be the first thing people look at when they want to browse your site.

Another really good spot is a 300 box placed inside of your content. People are coming to your blog to read content, so having an ad box in there will capture a lot of views (and hopefully clicks).

Very Interesting, beeker. Folks on this forum are siding with having the ads on the left side, not the right, as folks read right to left. Having had mine on the right and a week ago switched to the left has seen a dramatic decrease in ad clicks. I'm thinking of going back to the right side because, reading left to right, when you finish the sentence and the end of a paragraph your eye's are on the right side of the page which, directionally, would see the eye's continue to the right to see the ads.

Have you personally experimented with right vs left?

Thanks!

Personally I have not, but my good friends who own mildly successful blogs have their ads within their content and above their sidebars, been that way for years and they say it's the best.

Also, if I remember correctly, when John Chow was just starting out with his blog and looking for ways to increase AdSense revenue he said that a 300 box within your content is the best. If you look at his site now, you'll see he still practices this even though it's not AdSense anymore.

LOL, that cheered me up- thanks!

I am planning on removing adsense on my blogs sometime today, they are not producing results anymore, nothing worth mentioning anyway.

Has anyone had any experience with changing a template for your blog? If so, any technical issues come up? Appreciate hearing from the pro's before I do something rather silly.

Thanks!
when using a custom template in blogger you may lose some of adsense or it will change format, however its is quickly recoverable.
