Smile An idea that will make you 0$

How monetize your blog without actually getting any richer...? Hmmm.

I found this and I think it is a great idea to make money online... Well the money does not actually go in your wallet per se. At networkforgood.org they have set up these charity badges for charities being promoted by famous people or your can create your own. I put one on my blog though and I am going to make use of this a lot I think. They are good not only to try to solicit donations for the charity of your choice, but they can also help to raise awareness I suppose.

I don't know if this is what is meant by monetizing your blogs. I think maybe I misunderstood the question. ;-)

I think that what you are doing is a very honorable idea. It also shows that you are a person of good character. I suspect most people blogging however in terms of monetization are thinking about lining their own pockets instead of helping with charity donations and charity organizations. I commend you for doing that and wish you all the best.

Have you raised anything yet? Also is it basically a button / option where they donate directly to the charity?

Best Regards and hopefully this post will inspire others to throw one up as well. I'll have to look into it myself!

Rob

Default Thanks!

I have not raised any money yet, but it seems some people have from what I saw on the site. I just think it is a great idea for those who have a bit of extra space on their blog.

The donations are processed by network for good, but then they go to the specific charities.

What is really neat is you can set up your own badge for the charity of your choice, so you don't have to use the "celebrity" badge, which is what I have on my site.

Hopefully this catches on, and the way I think about it is, even I don't raise a penny, at least I tried!

Default Donating to Charity Online

You may not make anything for the charities directly but by posting here you could inspire countless people to do it. IT's a different revenue stream it's not like if you had adsense there they would of clicked it; they saw a chance to donate and they did. Once this thread gets picked by google countless people may come across it and signup.

Good job on getting the word out and the best of luck with your blog / seo contest as well.
Rob

If anyone is interested in finding more about raising funds for a good cause, I found this while researching a blog post about monetizing your blog for charity. Thought I would add it here for anyone who may be interested.

Default No luck yet!

No donations yet... I think my blog is mostly attracting people who want to make money rather then spend it. But my Nicole Kidman charity badge is pretty hot so that's okay.

If I win some money in this seocontest I will throw some cash at my charity badge then maybe others will follow suit? I hear that this is what street buskers do, put some money of their own in their guitar case. I am really looking forward to when the seocontest is over so I can focus/explore aspects of blogging that I have not been able to up until now, include raising funds with my charity badge.

Thanks for the heads up about my feed by the way! And the rain is great. I am just waiting for my iPod to charge up so I can go walk in it!

Raising money for charity can also be a great way to gain exposure. Why do you think major corporations spend millions advertising the fact they help the world? It is because charity is 100% deductible advertising. If you raise a large amount of money for a charity you will recieve a huge amount of free publicity.

Clever Idea. I personally would have never thought of that.
