Is This Why Your Adsense Income Is So Low?

Visiting forums to do with blogs or websites in general, I see a constant theme - people desperately trying to find out how to earn more adsense income from their site

My adsense income is my living, and it's growing month, on month - but any good adsense info is most welcome - and I got this in my email yesterday:

There seems to be no doubt that AdSense is getting harder.

One issue is that Google is now giving advertisers much more data
about where their ads are and how they are performing.

As a heavy AdWords advertiser I can now see exactly which web pages
in the AdSense network are generating profitable traffic for my clients
and which are not.

I then react to this data by stopping my clients' ads from appearing
on poor quality web pages or those pages that are just not relevant
enough.

As a publisher, it's your job to provide good quality content on your
site so that advertisers get high quality traffic and one way to do
this is to write articles that are going to educate visitors into
seeing the value of products and services that get advertised on
your site.

If you don't do this you may well find that the number of advertisers
competing to advertise on your site drops. You may also find that
advertisers reduce the amount they are willing to pay per click.

Result: reduced AdSense income.

Did you get that as a mail from Google or who did send you this? My Adsense earnings are so low that I don't like talking about it :P In fact I haven't even earned a dollar I think it's just 50 cents or something like that.

I think the problem is that people start a blog not really thinking about how they could make money. They then learn in which ways you can make money and of course everyone tells you Adsense is great. So naturally you add Adsense to your blog. The issue is just that there are not enough advertisers for your topic and that the payments are too low too.

It's difficult to get any money from Adsense because people simple doesn't click on Google ads. My CTR's on any site as been below 0.1%, while when I changed Adsense banners to my rotating banners in Free Online Dating Community Site for Tattoo Art and Piercings lovers to show their BodyArt for Love Match site, all banners CTR's has been 1.7-2.8%.

I can't match better than I have done in Veiko Herne, but it's still show the Google style and Ad from Google in the botom

No it wasn't Google!

I get lots of email from people regarding sitebuilding, making money online, etc.

I guess the person who sent it to me got fed up with people asking him how to make money with adsense, and just emailed it to his list

I have a love/hate relationship with Google. When they used to pay me 2 cents a click for stealing my visitor, I hated them. Now I average over 75 cents a click I'm happy to hand over the visitor.

It wasn't Google's fault the visitor was only worth 2 cents, and it took a lot of figuring out, how to get the click values up

Yesterday I got a $5 adsense click - and the site is "blocked" by Google (I put adsense on the site too early) - so even though Google don't like the site, they recognize a good visitor when they see one

When I was a SEO I used to sell keyword phrases for $1.50 each to web design companies - and those phrases got visitors to a site - I find and use "high quality" search phrases for my own sites now

You can do everything else right - but if your site is built around "poor" keyword phrases, you'll make peanuts with adsense, or anything else

I saw a post of yours about 6 months ago saying exactly the same thing - so I know you have an adsense problem

Like I said then, I average 2% to 3% adsense click rates on high traffic sites

I now earn my living from adsense revenue

My newer, and low traffic sites have much higher click through rates - but that's down to how Google calculate click values

As you have more than one site, and have the same problem on them all, then it's obviously down to how you find your search phrases, site SEO, or build your content pages - as you are doing much better than me with banner click though rates, proving you have the right type of visitors

I suspect you know enough about SEO and sitebuilding - so I suggest you re-think how you select your "adsense" search phrases

Enter a few of your search phrases into spyfu.com, and see if there are enough advertisers, enough searches, high enough click values

I delete search phrases with bid prices under $5 according to google external tool - that's a simple way to get high click values

It's a puzzle to me why you are getting such low adsense click rates - generally I'd say it's poor site design, resulting in non-relevant adsense ads - or poor keyword choice

I had to look all over for the adsense ad!

Scrap that ad block

Put the large rectangle ad block, positioned, below the header and above the first post

The other problem is, theme colors - all my sites have white background, and blue hyperlinks - people don't think of white as being a hyperlink

I've told you before, to use the large rectangle positioned under the header, and above the content - so why are you not doing it, and still complaining about low click rates?

Just spotted that you are placing 2 adsense blocks per page

I told you months ago to use 1 adsense block per page

Why do you not listen?
