Do you monetize your blogs feed? What are your feelings on this? I've noticed that while Adsense does deliver fairly relevant ads I don't like the size of the ad placements in the feed. (is there a way to change this?) A 468x60 ad placement would be better than the standard 300x250 box that it uses. What are your opinions on monetizing feeds? |

I would really like peoples opinions on this. What do you think about monetizing your feeds? Yes/No? Do you monetize yours? Do you like to see it? I ask because I wonder if it will put people off from reading my feeds in a reader. |

Why not? That said if you have a small audience the returns will most likely be neglible if any... If you have a bigger audience it may be worth it.

You know what. That was exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for. That is why I will remove ads now for my feeds and then introduce them over time when I have a larger audience after announcement to see how my readers feel about it. I just get to feeling there are some people that check to see if feeds are monetized when deciding to add to there favourite reader. For that reason like you said until I have a larger audience of readers I will not monetize my feeds. Besides I guess your right or could I be loosing out of possible revenue if I do though. For the sake of readers. I guess I'm nothing without them anyway.. |

I think you have to find a balance between contents and ads for it to work. Also the ads should be related to the blogging content.

You could put the ads in, I agree with Bloggeries though. I'm waiting to monetize my stuff because I really don't have that many visitors yet. A bigger box might be too "in the way" for some people though. I'm just guessing on this though, but some people might do feed readers for the convenience of getting their articles, and maybe to avoid ads. |

Totally disagree. Here's the thing: Most of your readers are just reading a particular blog post because they find it using Google. Whether or not you have ads on it, they're still going to read your post because the topic interested them in the first place. They went through Google to try to get more information. Its not like they just find out about your entire Blog and can't be bothered because you have ads on it. They're just interested in reading one particular blog post.

Yeah someone was saying to me the other day about my ad-placement on my blogs. While some people have commented that they like the placement and tbh I have gotten a better CTR because of it. They were saying that it would put them off and they would instantly click out of that blog. However I made them take that back by saying the same sort of thing. It doesn't matter too much about the ads because if the blog has good content on it or contains something on it that they are looking for then they will look for that content regardless.
