I think it all depends on the quality, proof, buzz, etc on the eBook itself. But there are people who write a good quality eBook, create a selling page for it and charge $10-$20/eBook. Then once they sell a bunch, they sell the entire site with it and $x,xxx... so if you can do that, I would definitely go for it.

Sometimes not charging money for an ebook is better than charging money, especially if you are just starting out with blogging. You will get a lot more people who download your ebook and a lot more exposure if it's free. Of course if you are already well-known and many people follow your advice then it might make sense to charge money for ebooks. |

Branding yourself is good definitely. Having a professional sales page helps too obviously. Not over pricing or underpricing is a good idea too. By not underpricing you are still giving that item value. When you create your own eBook you can put your own price on it however much you want. That's all well and good but there's more to it than just making a good eBook and sales page if no one sees it. The rest of the time should be spent on marketing and SEO. Unless you are as established as John Chow. That's how you automate sales and create an automatic money or so they say. Most eBooks are public domain so can be given away for free or resold. A lot of people get the oldest smallest unused ebook then spruce it up create a killer webpage and then market it and have it sell for + $50. If you can do that and make a profit then yes it will have been worthit. Just rinse and repeat |

It is a very competitive industry that you would need to come into with a real niche offering to have a good shot. The last few years has seen more of a shift from e-books to interactive video/learning, community, web 2.0 style memberships and information.

Depends on quality and relative "need" of the information. I have a ROUGH draft of an e-book to lose 40lbs in less than 4 months. I should get on it.

I am not selling any ebooks at the moment. However, I do intend on writing an ebook, probably will give out for free before I decide to sell or not.
