Make Money Blogging How to start a blog is the question? How do I make money from blogging?

1. Determine A Blog Theme- This can be a difficult process....on one hand you need to start a blog about something that interests you and on the other hand... to make money blogging it might need to be something that interests a lot of other people as well. Sometimes this can be one and the same. It takes a little research to make the final decision.

2. Select a Blog Service-There are millions of blog hosting services! You also must determine between blogs, forums, social networking and this list goes on. I am still wading through much of this new language on my pursuit to make money blogging.(Blogspot,Hubpages,Squidoo...some that are free)

3. Set up Your Blog- Most blog services are fairly simple but will take a little time. How to start a Blog in 5 minutes! That is probably not realistic.Don't worry if the first one you set up does not look like a professional blogger's site, you can always change templates, pictures, colors and so on. There is usually a help section or you can look around at some of the other blogs on that service for ideas.

4. Write Your First Post- If you have not written in a while this may seem scary but just have fun, let people know what you are blogging about, what made you start a blog, what your goals for the blog are etc... It can be short, more ideas will come to you as you go.

5.Monetize-monetize-monetize! For example: Amazon, Adsense, Affiliate Banners, E-bay or any program you can find that will allow you to make money when people either just click or maybe buy through your affiliate link.

6. Publish Your Blog- Now you are on your way! You have started a blog, now the next step will be to make money blogging. Before you know it you will have gone from how to start a blog to writing your own blogs about "How To Make Money Blogging!"

7. One last but very important piece of the Blogging puzzle is to Advertise! You must Get Traffic to your Blog. Although many experts may tell you if you just have good content, traffic will show up...Well I am still waiting. So here are some other ways that may help you jump start your traffic.This can be approached many different ways-PPC (i.e. 7-search,adwords, msn) Link Exchange, Article Marketing (i.e.Ezine, Go Articles, Article Alley), and then you can also participate in forums and blogs with relevant information, and last but not least Social Networking sites are also a good source of traffic.

If you get stuck on any one part there is always a wealth of information and tips in the forums and blogs. You might just have to do a little research to find it. I hope some of these tips help and always love to hear others ideas, so please share!

Mmmm I think this content is great... and necessary still to even get any traffic... but it's a thick field now and I think there has to be a next step to this. I have done all of that and I know my blog has a slim chance of getting huge (as do most) so what I wonder is...after you've done all that....what more is there to do? I'm on twitter, I have a custom layout, content, adsense, on blog directories (google Kathleen McGiveron to see what I mean)... so where do I go from here?

Wow, really? Why not? If people are coming to your site to read what you've written, what would be wrong with gaining something monetarily from their visits?

If it's just a simple "family blog" where you are posting just for your family, then make it private so that only those who are members can read it, otherwise, if it's open to the web, it's perfectly ok to monetize the site and make some cash from it.

I think what some bloggers are lacking is passion for the topic that they are writing on their blog. This translate to crappy content with no quality. Yes it's ok to gain some money from ads by blogging but keep in mind that quality content is the most important thing if you want to drive traffic to your site and keep visitors coming back.

Amazon works but requires a lot of traffic. I use amazon product links on some of my sites with good results

The most important thing - and this has been said several times before - is to blog about something you're passionate about. If you're excited about your topics, you infect your readers with the same excitement, and you're much more likely to make money that way.

So many people try to make money blogging - some succeed, many fail. The odds are stacked against you - so if you're going to put in all the effort for something that isn't a guaranteed win, you might was well enjoy the process.
