Well said. I've done the throw up the banners and get maybe 1 click a week before. Will be trying what you suggest in near future. Seems like a recipe for a homerun!

To elaborate on this excellent point for the people who are new to blogging, if you throw up banners those banners only show for as long as you decide to keep them showing. Eventually you'll decide that the amount you're making from them isn't enough, and find something else to use that real estate on your site for.

When you work links into a review post, that post is on your blog forever. Pick good keywords and keep adding posts to your blog regularly, and you'll get continuing traffic from search engines directly to that post for the life of your blog.

With the added benefit that a personal recommendation converts better than an advertising banner any day. Just make sure you really do recommend the product before saying you do...a negative review post is better for your reputation if you don't like a product, and you'll still get some conversions from it, strangely enough.

Another thing to consider is the fact that the more niche oriented your traffic is the more one should strive to find a quality affiliate in their niche.
