I've seen several SEO experts who don't even apply their own advice. Unlike the real world, SEO isn't a matter of those who can do and those who can't teach. To teach SEO or online marketing, they have to walk the walk. I agree the market is over statuated and the advice sets people up to think they're going to get rich. It just doesn't work like that.

As a rule, I categorically ignore anyone gives advice on blogging with a blog smaller than mine.

There are far too many of these generic 'how to blog' blogs. I think it's because people decide they want to start blogging, read a bunch of blogs on 'how to blog' and realise 'hey, now I know lots about blogging! Maybe I should write about that - other people seem to be making money off it." And the cycle continues.

If you want to write about blogging you should write as part of a wider niche - I blog for small business clients, so my blog has some posts about blogging for small business or non profits, amongst other topics like copyright issues, recession-proofing your busniess, taxes and marketing. If i blogged about blogging every day, I'd get so bored!

Amen! There are also so many pitfalls to all these sites which is a shame because if you're a beginner it's just so easy to get sucked in. You really need to have your wits about you. One of the sites used to get informed was The Net Fool, pretty safe with good info and advice.

Happy revenue hunting...if that's what you're after.
