It's like 10000s of blogs re-writing what a few big blogs write. Why not just go to the few big ones you know?

It's definitely irritating, but I think there are enough areas to produce some interesting content and ideas. If people began creating their own methods instead of just regurgitating crap that other bloggers are actually working to produce. Like posts about "how Albert Einstein would have blogged." There are those that create and explore, and those that rip off.

I'm not going to pretend my blog is ridiculously unique but as I have a hand in the door in this particular market, I think the reason the bigger blogs succeed is because they're using the information they use as they continue to grow their own sites. They experiment and then tell the original results. It then trickles down into the other blogs. At any rate, that's what I try to do with Diligent. Experiment or examine things from new, weird, and different perspectives, and continually evolve the content as the results and viewpoints change.

The big question I have for these sites is "why should I listen to you?"

What makes you qualified to give me advice on how to make a successful blog, especially if you don't have much traffic to your blog to begin with, and have chosen to write lukewarm repetitive articles in an oversaturated niche?

Darren Rowse has a blog even bigger than ProBlogger, which gives him some credibility. Other big blogs about blogging have gathered large followings. Most of the sites are just copy cat sites who can't think of anything original, so they just copy what they see others doing.

I really don't think there's that much money in blogging. At the end of the day, it's something that you inherently do in your spare time, and being paid for that is great. Never enough to live on, maybe finance your internet or petrol bills at most.

There are so many blogs out there, it's hard to sift through the rubbish.

The market is already completely saturated. There are so many blogs out there on how to write a successful blog and how to make money off a blog that it is almost sick!

I get so tired of those kinds of blogs, but hey, if they're making money off of it, I guess that's good for them. I, for one, won't be reading them, though.

It isn't just you. There are. And the ironic thing is that very few of them are making any money.

Smile Re: Too many blogs on "How to Build a Profitable Blog"

I've come across some blog entries that say "How to make 2 cents a day" or "How NOT to make money using your blog".

The comments were funnier. One said,"Are you serious?"

I agree that there are many money blogs, which I read less and less of every hour, but the blogs that outline HOW TO MAKE MONEY in general are more valuable to me. If there is an author that wants to put his secrets on a blog for others to use or learn by, more power to them.

In my opinion it's like speed reading a book. On a blog you get right to the point and most of the time it's free.

There are too many and most of them don't even make any money. I have a small side blog about blogging, but I hardly write on it now because I can either rehash the same bland information or I can give away serious information that can hurt my competitive advantage. And I don't want to do neither. :-)
