I just read some good articles about adsense on Problogger.net. It appears the important thing is get your ads focussed. Also work on getting high paying ads if you can.

No traffic no revenue from adsense , a good ctr is not hard to come by when traffic count is low.

We are now up to $200+ per month over the past year or so.

I find having a focused site, lots and lots of different articles, and patience over time is working for us. We have been up for just over 2 years now.

Educator, can I ask, what kind of site traffic do you have to get that much money per month? I'm impressed. I looked at your Daily Home Renovation Tips blog - Looks like it's a PR 3.

Hi Melody,

Yes, currently the home page is a PR 3....it has been as high as PR4.

The Energy Savings Guide page (link in signature below) is a PR4.

I think its the nature of the posts (which tend to explain things......which makes sense since in my day job I am an educator) as well as the topic of home reno, maintenance and especially these days energy conservation.

It's less than 1,000 uniques per day.

We are still a small site (e.g. we haven't been on Oprah ) but we write a lot....about 5 times a week on current topics which are seasonal so with the major media writing their own articles and TV news shows giving the same topics attention, the topics are already on peoples mind.

I should ad that with our topics being seasonal, so are the related ppc ads. For example, home heating is a hot (OK, OK ... pun intended ... sort of) topic right now in the middle of winter so advertisers with such products / services are willing to pay more IMO than say vendors who provide air conditioning products / services; vice-versa in the summer.

I cant wait until I start to make like 300-400 dollars a month, it's not much, but I would be able to start working 4 days at my 9-5 job while taking an extra day a week to work on my blog, making it grow even faster!
