Odesk.com is also another freelance site. However, for many jobs, it seems like the pay is not worth it... such as for article writing.

Aren't the rates quoted in these freelancing sites generally very, very low; so that it makes little sense for a say, first world freelancer to compete for jobs here unless they are stay at home, really desperate, etc? Our gut feel is it probably makes more sense for developing country freelancers to try get more work from these sites as they can be more competitive with their rates.
