Whenever anyone starts a blog they most likely have grand plans of huge success and reaching a large audience. In the end most people never reach those goals. Have you ever given up on any of your blogs, and if so, what do you think were the main reasons?

Sigh... Yes I've given up one or two. I had one in 2002 but I was never really passionate about the topic and that is the key. I was doing affiliate marketing and tried to use it as an outlet. Unfortunately many many many blogs fade away. I believe primarily because the author's motivations weren't in the right place when it began and / or they had unrealistic expectations. That's why I only try and take blogs that are 4months old minimum to my directory. Most that fade often do so in first 3 months. 3 Months is a long time to write about something with few visitors unless you truly are passionate about it. Anyone else?

Multiple times
![]() I usually buy domain names, set up an account on my reseller package, and then give up on them after 3 posts. I'm usually quite lazy

Yes, I gave up on one blog, which could be very interesting.
It was called "Poland - Bitter truth" and the intention was to describe and review current political, economical situation in Poland. The blog is actually still online (it is on one of my servers), but I have no time at the moment to carry on. But maybe one day... who nows...

My personal blog had a hiatus of a year, but I've come back to it recently. It doesn't get much attention, though, since most of my effort is put into Online Opportunity.
Passion is key, if you're not passionate about the topic you'll get tired of writing about it in short order. Jay |

Nope, I've never given up on a blog because blogging is what I am passionate about! I have moved on and left my old blogs as they are, but no, I didn't abandon them..

Well... to a degree. I hadn't updated a blog for a few months at one stage, but I came back to it.

I run two blogs, my own and the arts council. I am in the process of training someone else to help me run the art council blog. My own blog (been around 2 years now) is like a blank canvas and an extension of what I do as an artist. As someone else mentioned passion plays a key and I am passionate about art. My blog is also a means to keep in touch with family and friends here and overseas. I didn't really have any grand plans or major expectations when I started, the blog is my visual artistic playground and it isn't likely to lose its appeal to me any time soon.
