I have been told I post to often, that most people won't look past the current post at older stuff, and that if I post two or three times a day I am wasting my time? I have also been told nobody likes to look at a blog only to find it has the same post one read two days earlier?---whats everyone else think? Gary(old dude) ThreeScorePlusTen |

There would be different opinion on this issue. But in my opinion, content doesn't matter as much as traffic. If you like write a very good post and it took 3 days to research. If you have no traffic, sorry no one will read your post. Your post will decay on your blog. But if you have traffic, it will be the talk of the blog. Haven't seen blog where the blogger posts what he will eat and it has more than 20 comments. Then there are post that the blogger post how to be No 1 on google, yahoo, MSN, Cuil, ask and the post gets no comment.

I have different frequencies for different posts. My vet student blog aims for 3 posts per week (monday wednresday and friday). It's a pace I can keep up with because some weeks are slow, sometimes I'm completely drained and sometimes I have posts that I can 'save' for busy times. My writing blog gets two posts a week. That's pretty reasonable because these posts take work, and I don't go in for memes or awards very much. The others are quiet right now because life is busy and complicated. Once daily or every other day is a pretty good rate, because visitors will drop by at most once a day to look for something new, and if they see the same post two days in a row they're not going to mind that much, they may assume that they're just early. Not a lot of blogs manage to update daily with good content.

I'd say, 3 posts a day is way too much. People check blogs every now and then. If they come back and have to read like 15 posts to catch up, they are not going to read. I would aim at 3 posts a week. If you are a frequent blogger, 1 per day (to attract daily visitors) but no more than 2 posts per day!

I see your running a commercial blog, that is to say promoting your business, as such yes three posts a day would be to much. I on the other hand am running a personal blog--so post whenever something comes to mind. Your right not all readers will take the time to go back and read posts they might have missed, but my posts are not sequential, so if one misses one or two, they have not missed anything of particular importance. If I don't post frequently then my readers who most check daily would become bored. |

try to socialize...join forums and other communities for bloggers. That way, other bloggers will have an idea ablout your blog and visits them and probably post on your articles. but as a blog owner, and if you want people to come back, put some goodies on your blog. Update them from time to time so people will have something new to look at and comment on...Cheers

Whenever you have something good to say; preferably not more than a week I'd say if you're doing it seriously.
