I'm doing real ones; it's weird but after ~5 weeks of routinely doing pushups these first sets feel like nothing. HUGE improvement from my 1st attempt involving total crackage of every joint I had in that part of my body plus a few other parts probably.

I was doing pretty good with this challenge, but I had to go away for a week and well...I'm easily distracted. I do have some arm strength, though, and I'm trying to do more push-ups regularly.

I'm just finishing week 1 day 2; 12, 12, 10,10 Max (atleast 10). Have 1 set left and then the max. Oh joy. I think it's all about going as HARD AS POSSIBLE on the max to finish. The harder you go the easier the next lessons will be. (just a theory)

Thanks for the invitation and starting the hundredpushups.com challenge Rob! It's a lot more fun to be doing it with you all.

It is fun! Did day 2 week 2 today. Not as sore this week as the first week. So there is hope for the future, if you are sore. I ranked #4 in the initial test with 26 pushups at age 52. My max for the final level five so far are: 16, 16, 17, 16, 18

Good work Rob! I'm a bit type A, so I'm pushing that last pushup to failure. Though I'm wondering if I will be able to continue doing Body Pump together with my pushups on Wed. and Fridays. I feel too wiped out for the triceps, back and shoulder sections. We'll see how it goes.

I"m big time type A and do it until I can't possibly do another with good form. I then hold it near the bottom and push up usually out of breath!

Heh. I'm doing the girly ones, from the knee. (Just to make the rest of you feel better!) My initial test was a pathetic 12 of those, and to complete the public humiliation I am, in fact, planning to carry on from my original post with updates as it goes along. (Unlike some of these Type A guys here, ahem, I can use all the motivation it's possible to drum up. Last night was just Week 1 Day 1 for me, because it took several days to recover from the test! plus I've had physical work to do that left me in no shape for pushups on top of that.

That makes sense to me. Think I'll do that.

So, is everyone doing the Monday-Wednesday-Friday thing? Am I the only one going for Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday schedule?

I'm doing the M/W/F program, since my wife Sue and I already do our weight training on Wed and Friday mornings. We've been doing Les Mills Body Pump 1-3 times a week since 2004.

Don't feel bad if you are starting out at a lower rank than Rob or me. We've been working out already, so we are along the path a bit farther. If you start with 12 and build up to 50 after six weeks, you're doing just as well as I am, if I build up to 100. However, I believe you will be able to do more than 50 and put me to shame with greater overall improvement.
