Default When is it ok for a presidential candidate.....

when is is ok for a presidential candidate say and support something just simply to get elected, even if he really doesn't believe in it?
for INSTANCE, all Obama supporters would want him to win the elections and be the savior of America, so would it be ok for him to say things now to get support from certain groups, that are highly influential, just to get elected, even though he does not share their ideals, or even believe in the things personally he says now? is that really ethical? or thats the name of the game?

Its the name of the game, Obama has already started flip flop on some of his positions, as soon as he locked up the nomination he started to move to the center. Plus he is a product of the Chicago democratic machine who are some of the most corrupt politicians in existence.

Obama was an example, i was watching CNN when there was a certain group that McCain has fallen in and out with over the past 8 years (that i know of) and it seems to me that they are highly influential. now it could be strategy that the candidate and this organization were not on terms recently and now being so far into the race the organization said the might support McCain, could it be that this presidential candidate made the right choice of words this year around??

totally agree, I am not that into politics but my question still remains how can this be allowed, how can this be justified and how is this on any level ethical?? ethics take a back seat on many occasions, business deals and politics just to name a few, has humanity left the hearts of all these people?

I'll readily admit that I may be more right wing than Attila the Hun but I'm not a McCain fan (he is a liberal in my book), I supported Romney in the primaries and will probably write in my own name on the presidential ballot.

Romney has been pretty much been swallowed by the tides of this race, as for you writing your name on the ballot, i think half of us think the same, but in the end how potent are we to really be president? the world doesn't stop with the borders of USA, and neither do our responsibilities being one of the super powers of the world despite the revolutionary changes taking place within our own country and system

When has this ever not been true of politicians, well except maybe Washington(he probably even flip flopped to get into his position of power). It's all a part of the political machine, you can't please everyone, so you just lie and tell everyone that you can please them, and BAM, your in a position of power. By that point no one can stop you from doing what you please, you win.

Sadly politics isn't a game of honesty or ethnics. It's a game of power and control.

The vast majority of them are all the same even if they dont start out like that they will simply tell you what you want to hear to get your vote then once they are in power the people do not matter anymore at least until the next election.
