Writing on something even remotely controversial is going to bring out people who strongly agree or strongly disagree with you.
Happened today, and he's probably my first offensive commenter. He called me names. ![]() He called me a 'he' He insulted previous commenters. Not all of them were clever, but most of them were civilised and able to approach the idea from different points of view. But the most annoying thing is that he then felt compelled to hop over to my 'about Nearly-Dr Ferox' page to try to be insulting there. I'm sure they wouldn't so it if there was any way to stop them being anonymous. Still, everyone has an oppinion. It's just hard to not insult their intelligence back.

Oh a blog about D&D! Shiny!
But yeah, back on the subject. Good content, remarkable content will always alienate a good chunk of the population. If its not good to get a reaction then its not good at all I say. So long as you are not trying to get people to disagree for the sake of disagreement itself, having some people differ from your opinions is indeed the mark of good content. |

It wasn't even an oppinion piece. It was basically revised information from lecture notes because I needed to throw a quick post together.

Haha well in that case... we all get the eventual troll/sour reader every now and then.

Oh it continues!
He returned to reply to my comments, and at the same time i recieve a mysterious comment from a supposed vet who not only claimed that mariguana is harmless, but had exactly the same IP address as my little troll. 99.248.253.81 Check out the 'About' page, down the bottom. Nearly-Dr Ferox » About Nearly-Dr Ferox And the main debate is:Nearly-Dr Ferox » Marijuana Poisoning in Dogs and Cats The question is, do I let this continue? Should I delete the supposed Dr comment because I'm 100% sure that it's fake. EDIT: And now I look, the supposed Dr submitted his comment for moderation just 4 minutes after the troll. Fabricating evidence?

Whether it was on a newsgroup, or IRC, or anything, from the beginning of time (well, the internet), the mantra is "Don't Feed the Trolls."
And that's what he is. A troll. Leave the comments up on your marijuana toxicity post, since they're not as abusive, and it leaves it open for different points of view, but if I were you, I'd remove them from your about page. That wasn't necessary of him. In fact, I'd close commenting on that page if I were you. Just my opinion, of course.

I removed the posts where he has pretended to be other people, since I can't actually prove he is using the same ip address for multiple names from a viewer's point of view, only the mod pannel.
I had hoped he would be civilised and articulate. I guess not. Apparently he doesn't care anymore and won't be back. I'll see tomorrow.

I read the posts and I think you have done a good job dealing with him. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It makes for some amusing reading.
