Default Rumor - Microsoft Buying Yahoo Search + Facebook

If Microsoft bought Yahoo Search + Facebook it would be quite the competition or at least start becoming one for Google. What do you think?

Microsoft has been trying to buy Yahoo for quite a while now, but deals keep falling through because of Yahoo being a bit crazy on some things, lol. I think Facebook would be way more valuable for them to obtain than just the yahoo search portion.

I think they want Search as it will give them a better position in total volume and the only option if you'd want to eventually challenge google I think. Just the search sounds better than the rest of the stuff which doesn't necessary promote transactions.

Yahoo' search and Facebooks ad's and social presence would be a big plus for Microsoft. I hope they don't do it, they more than likely will just screw it up. But they need to do something if they plan to compete with Google's Friend Connect.

Yes, Yahoo search is the only one that could even think about challenging Google. As it stands now, it doesn't have a chance, though, so it'd need quite a bit of work and marketing that would create a lifestyle change for many people. Facebook, however, continues to grow, and is huge with the upcoming generations. If they could get 'both', then it'd be wonderful.

exactly! Microsoft doesn't have enough "know-how" to run both Yahoo AND Facebook. Google should be afraid if Gates picks up Facebook, but I don't see it happening. They are already lowballing Yahoo and Facebook is worth MUCH more!

Good luck to Microsoft and in the meantime, I will be using my check from the IRS to buy Microsoft stock :icon_twisted:

It would be very interesting to see what would happen if Microsoft aquired both Yahoo and Facebook.

Interesting isn't the word I'd use for it. hehe.

It does not sound very promising for the consumer.

Sure M$ has their influences in most computer related products, but in more instances than not, they tend to make a mess of things.

Thats all we need, is Yahoo to be merged with MS Messenger and stuck in your email browser permanently :P

Ahh well.. what will happen, will happen I guess.
