I don't blog for money. In fact I don't do anything for money .. where's the fun or joy in that? Life's too short! I'm lucky enough to receive enough money (to have a reasonable lifestyle) for some of the things I do. Maybe one day I'll receive some money for blogging ... if enough people read it and get value from it.

I'm impressed by what a number of people in this thread had to say (too much to quote). I'm on both sides of the money line. Most of my blogs function as niche sites with product reviews and (hopefully) informative articles. I also have a more personal site with some of my own writing, and I have two blogs (in Afrikaans and English) with some excerpts and other short posts. The personal blogs are not, and will never be, monetized with ads, banners, Adsense or anything similar. And I agree with the sentiment about crappy blogs produced for nothing other than profit. People are not nearly as stupid as we sometimes believe... wait, that's a debate for another time; point is, people know the difference between an informative blog/site and something with no real value. And the only way you can add value to a blog, is to nurture it and be sincere in your efforts.

Well, away from Mr. $$$, blogging is simply to express thoughts to the world and reading what othet people thinks too. Commenting also is another good stuff to do within this world!

We blog for laughs... which in our opinion is better than money (not really). It's just what's important to us.

I blog purely for the love of RPGs. I use RPGNow's affiliate system to get credit on their site but that's it. No ads, no selling of stuff, it's all for fun.

I don't blog for money. I think that's like one of those late night T.V. commercials about 123workathome.com, it just will never pay the bills and you will most likely end up paying out more than you could ever bring in. But 'oh well', I am a pessimist when it comes to easy money.

I would like to blog for money, however, the reality is that I can make more money in one hour working my offline job than I can in a month of blogging. However, the money that does come in is certainly appreciated!

I am reallllly new to the whole blog thing...I looked into blogging for a possible way to earn a couple of dollars.. but I am enjoying the few minutes of thought it allows.. I may eventually go back to trying to earn.. for now this is just fun.
