i do it for the entertainment and hopefully the entertainment of someone else. i dont have enough time to actually put real thought into my posts, so my posts (i think) come off a bit rough and raw.

I don't blog for money. I blog for a cause, can inspire people and because I like writing.
The few ads I run allow me to recover my costs. Anything in excess of that, I donate to a charity.

Here here! If your end goal is just money, you won't get very far. Deliver value and aim to help as many people as you can, and the money will come as a by-product.

I do not as I am ad free. I may place a few tasteful ads when I switch to wordpress.org.

I enjoy passing on cool stuff (Asp.net, C#, MySql, etc...) that I learned while coding a Asp.net web site in my blog.
But I also won't mind making a few bucks while doing it. I tried Adsense but my blog does not get enough traffic to make more than a few dollars every few months. I have been Beta testing http://Exitmercial.com full page ads on my blog. Currently it is working very well on my site. No money yet they are only in beta testing. You don’t have to replace your existing adsense or other ad services to use Exitmericals. It is an additional way to earn revenue. Exitmerical’s only display a targeted full page ad when the reader selects an external link on your blog. Once the ad is displayed the user continues to their selected url. Your blog (the source) gets credit for displaying the ad not the destination domain. You can see how it works by visiting my blog Cool ASP.NET stuff BTW: I have also used Exitmerical’s to prototype a new way to publish eBooks online. By using an option you can have Exitmericals on each internal chapter links. Readers get to read your book for free and you get paid for delivering a full page ad for each chapter they read. Here is a link to one of my prototype books: Knots, Splices and Rope Work http://onlinepublishing101.blogspot.com/ |

I have no ads whatsoever on my site. I have one link in my navbar which leads to my Amazon store, where I have reviewed, rated and recommended products specific to my industry. There are absolutely no ads or widgets on my site, only content. I do, in some non-blog pages, point out that I am in business and if you want to use my services I provide you with some links to do that.
