Default Would you sign up or sign in already?! :)

Until just a minute ago I was the only registered user online. There were 27 guests at one point though. I was just wondering why so many people are cruising the forum, but not participating?

I know a few probably are signed up, and just not signed in, but come on people.

Sign up already!

or else...:icon_twisted:

Default Benefits of forum posting

I often used to wonder that as well. Many don't know the benefits of forum posting. Sometimes it's been as high as 160's. Many people are just looking for a quick answer. If you're social on the internet via forums it helps you grow as a webmaster and your blog in exposure.

If you posted ~2.7 posts a day for 1 year you'd have over 1000 posts. If those posts are decent to the point and on topical threads which get search engine traffic it's like spending time today for residual traffic and exposure. Not bad!

Also the networking / contacts you meet are right up there if not at the top!

Yeah. I've wondered about it sometimes on my own forums. I've come to a conclusion that a lot of it may be bot traffic. We'll often get 2-3 'guests' from a similar IP range that will stick around for about an hour, and then leave. The only thing I can guess is that its part of some botnet scanning the web. I can only assume that with the exposure this blog gets, it gets scanned a lot more.

Interesting. I was just feeling a little lonely being the only registered user on.

With all those 'guests' around me it's like a haunted forum. You know they are there, but you don't know who they are are you can't seem to communicate with them. spoooooky

Thing is most people aren't that outgoing so why would it change online. In real life I like to talk and oddly I also like meeting / networking / chatting online.

The more guests the more possible conversions though so that's a good thing

I think most forums whatever the topic have a high percentage of people who just want to have a look at the threads without actually participating.

I've found the exact opposite. Usually people who are very shy and reserved in real life turn out to be extremely outgoing in real life. They use their internet handles to hide behind, and feel they can say and do anything.

I really do think a good portion of those guests are bots of some sort.
