I am new to blogging and I have a few opportunities to write for some blogs that while not entirely on the same theme as my blog, their readers may benefit from what I have to say. Does anyone have any insight, suggestions, experiences they would like to share?

I'd say go for it! Being a guest blogger is fun and can only increase traffic to your blog, increase your personal exposure as an author and it's fun writing on something somewhat similar to your topic but no quite; it gets you out of your comfort zone and helps you grow as a blogger. Throw some of your own bloggeries on someones blog whenever asked as long as the blog is something you don't mind being associated with. Good luck and have fun with it is my advice! Rob

Guest blogging is a win win for all parties involved. The blog recieving the post adds an unique perspective to their blog and relieves a little work load while the guest gains exposure to a new audiance. It is always a great idea as long as the posts and blogs are somewhat related. Writing about seo at a recipe blog really wouln't make sense or benefit anyone.

I've had great experiences with guest blogging. I've been able to get my writing in front of new audiences, get some good links, and most importantly made some strong contacts. In fact, I found this site and forum through a blog that I did a guest post for. Rob is a reader of that blog and left some comments there. I'd strongly encourage you to take a shot. |

I've actually just completed my first ever time as a guest blogger on Make Moooney Online with John Cow dot Com with a post called 20 Ways to Increase Your Blog Traffic | John Cow dot Com. I'm also doing adding some bloggeries to Blog Duck - Blogging Tips & Ideas I really enjoy doing it and it's a great way to add value to the owners blog, give you exposure and hopefully additional traffic as a result. I'd definitely recommend it and am glad I began doing it. Regards, Rob

How much traffic can you expect from a guestpost? A lot or not so much?

| I would think that depends on who your host is. But then again, there's no guarantee that you'd gain a lot of traffic from a popular host either.
