What Would You Want To See In A Blogging Magazine? - Blog Forum

I'm looking at starting a few blogging projects (see my last blog post) - anyways, one of those is a Magazine dedicated to bloggers.

One that's written by bloggers, for bloggers, with blogging tips (how to blog, monetization, domains and whatnot), interviews, reviews, startup blogs, experienced blogs... you know, the whole blogosphere in one place.

I have the magazine theme, and am pondering over a domain... anyways, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has ideas for additions to the magazine. It'll be online, and I'm thinking 50 - 70 pages, so packed full of information; it'll have guest posts, be featured on quite a few websites.

I'm thinking have the first month free, and then charge a nominal fee ($5/month) to make up for the tonne of work I'm going to put into it.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm also interested in extremely talented designers, as I'll need to hire some for the magazine itself.

I think it's a great idea. Something nice about paper magazines (I'm assuming that it'll be pdf downloads I guess?) that makes it seem a lot more authoritive. I'd love to be featured or help with it.

What I'd like to see I guess would be blogger interviews. ffnstuff does something similar with Blog about Your Blog with an interview. Maybe you could do something like "Hello" or "OK" with Blogging Celebrity news?!?

It's a nice idea. Those type of projects are usually successful, and monthly subscriptions are always nice revenue generators.

I think that is a GREAT idea. I think I would like to see a one stop resource for blogging. A place where not everyone is an expert, but beginners can get a start.

@ Rhys,

It will start off as a PDF download... however, ultimately the dream is to get it offline, and in print. We've seen Entrepreneur and all that for business, but as far as I know there isn't a real resource out there for blogs... surprising really, as there are more than 200 million existing right now and more being created by the second.

At the moment, I have a few categories, which I'm thinking of:

Blogging Basics (definitions and explanations of basic blogging terms, like feed count, timestamp, blog, type of blog.. etc).

Blog Promotion

Blog Monetization

Review of the week

Interview of the week A - Interview with a 'star' blogger today, one doing fairly well.

Interview of the week B - Interview with a relatively unknown blogger, one that will benefit from the exposure

Guest Post A

Guest Post B

Guest Post C

There are a few more ideas I have (blogging games, blogging pictures, blogging in real life, blogging merchandise etc) however I'd love to know what others thought, as you guys will be reading it

@ Paul, I don't really expect to make a profit off it at the beginning, however if it goes big...

@ Sukosaki, aye... a resource for the beginner. That's what I'm thinking about, at least.

@ All, I will be looking for guest posts, long and well written ones of upwards of 2,000 words when it kicks off - let me know if you'd be interested.

I'm also looking for a graphic designer, if anyone knows any?

Any other feedback would be much appreciated

@ Sukosaki, for reviews I was thinking reviews of blogging tools (Entrecard, Scratchback etc), not people. People will be in interviews.

I've been approached by some people with very interesting ideas, have found a designer as well. If anyone has any ideas they'd like to see run, let me know
