I think what Rob said is right. You can tell if a blogger really enjoys what he/she is writing about. It shows in their content.
I think a good blogger has regular, good content. I read "how to blog" blogs. Photography blogs. Personal blogs that have good photos and humor. I'm looking for something different in each type of blog. For the how to blogs/make money blogs I want to learn something new. Not just a rehash of what's out there. For the photography blogs I want photography help, lighting, cameras, compostion, photoshop help, etc. For the personal blogs, I want to be entertained and get a sense of community on the blog. From a personal perspective, if they have great pictures on their blog, so much the better.

There are a lot of good points there! I agree, there can be the same topic, but many different ways of delivering that content and making it your "own".

Come to think of it, most of the good blogs that I have read lately are from small bloggers...You also have to accept that it will take time for you to establish yourself.
