It's got to be within an hour or two drive of the ocean, no further inland. I've tried other places over the years, but just keep coming back... But I wouldn't mind bringing the climate of the golden Costa del Sol over here to Atlantic Canada!

West Coast United States is hard to beat for scenic beauty, but I hear the people are snobbish. I love Chicago, but hate the snow and wind. I think if I could live anywhere right now, California ... land of sunshine ... actually, think that's florida.

PAULR how you can stand the UP I don't know. I've been in Chicago for 9 years now and am ready to head south again.

I'd live somewhere where it's warm all year round, but doesn't get unbearably hot.

With a blog about cruising do you have any particular suggestions in mind?

All the places I've been to have been in the 90s during the summer. Too hot for me. Out of the places I've been, I guess I'd go with Bermuda. I'd have to be rich before I could live there though. I guess that's why I put all my million dollars in the bank over in that thread.

I can see that being a nice but expensive place. I'm looking for high connectivity relatively stable economy and low cost of living.

The UP is fantastic during the spring/summer/fall. The winter is a different story, but I have spent my whole life dealing with Chicago's winters I don't see how winters anywhere else could be worse, unless of course you lived in Canada.

I live in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Northern California. Beautiful place, we get all 4 seasons...light. It might snow once or twice, rarely gets above 90 in the summer, lots of beautiful colors in the fall. I am less than an hour from skiing, 20 minutes from putting my kayak in a lake, and smack dab in the middle of some of the best mountain biking in the world. Takes half a day to get to the ocean, but Northern Cali ocean is too cold for swimming without a wetsuit.

I really like where I live, must be why I am here!

I vacationed in Belize once, that was a great country if you like caving and Maya ruins.

Oh, and I'm not snobbish!

It's tempting to want to live in a tropical paradise, but where do you go when you need a vacation from THAT? I've been to Thailand which was awesome, and leaving was always depressing, but if I lived there permanently I think I'd get jaded pretty quick.

I live in Chicago and it's good here. Now if I could change the weather, that would be perfect...
