What do you think about the prospects of blog aggregator sites like blogger.com, twitter.com and livejournal.com compared with the mighty forces of WORDPRESS?
I wrote a detailed article comparing them and though it will be very relevant to discuss it here or on my blog. READ IT HERE! So what are your views?

Great Post!
Before I get into it first let me say your blog is looking as though it's really coming along well! Very clean professional layout and timely content. Nice work. Regarding the post. I had been considering setting one up at bloggeries.net but haven't gotten around to it. You make alot of valid points and I agree that there may be a limited future for new startups. That being said I don't think blogger or wordpress hosting will go anywhere overnight. The issue is most serious bloggers like you mention need wordpress and a new domain. It makes you look serious for a whole number of reasons. It will continually be new users who setup shop on free hosting or at least predominantly new members or existing members making another blog. This leaves little room for a competitor as ranking above blogger.com or wordpress for any blog related term that they service would be very difficult. From a hosting point of view it could also be a nightmare where you end up spending most of your time answering basic technical questions. Great post and thanks for sharing with the community! Don't get me wrong I love wordpress but its a very narrow minded view that professional users would only use wordpress. Like I commented - Wordpress has been around for years - blogging platforms go up and down in popularity, before WP it was MT and B2. I personally think the next big thing will be textpattern followed by habari but thats just me.

Hi Han,
Are you referring to other standalone software like wordpress or aggregators? If those are stand-alone than I think you may have a point; wordpress has great market saturation but everything has its day... ![]() Rob Quote:

stand alone.
MT is huge - I'm considering changing to it. Not forgetting all the past favourites, b2, b2 evolution, GM, MT, TP and I know I'm forgetting one. |

I was talking with someone else and not necessarily hosting like blogger or wordpress but he believed that aggregations WERE the way of the future. Bringing in multiple feeds from similar niches in one easy to access spot. I know it's different from the original post but after reading it I just ad to add this. I was working on one for featured listings but with time stamp issues it quickly became quite cumbersome!
