Hi! I'm otherdeb, and I've been seduced into starting a blog on getting out of debt, regaining your equilibrium and writing over at The Dangling Conversation.
I'm a 55-year-old New Yorker, and I love writing, reading, jewelery-making, and knitting. I work in a New York City high school, and will be running security at a filk (science fiction folksinging) convention in two and a half weeks. I sold my first short story just after I turned 40. I've been working my way out of debt for a few years, and taking my life in-hand along the way. |

Welcome to the community Deb, glad you made the journey from Plurk and joined us!
Hopefully we'll see you around and once hitting 10 posts be sure to Show Off Your Blog using a descriptive title and body for comments from the rest of the forum.

Thanks guys! I'm really looking forward to making my blog the best I can!
I'm actually pleased with the progress so far, but I know I have a long way to go. I'm thinking my next step is to get a domain and have a Wordpress-powered blog that I can actually do stuff (like add buttons and real links) to, but I admit to being kind of scared to take that next step. |

hi welcome otherdeb,
there are nothing to be scared of in taking the next step. but you would save yourself a lot of frustration and disappointment if you were to take the upgrade one step at a time and don't rush it ![]() |

Absolutely. I pretty much am not even considering making the move until this month's rent and bills are taken care of. Especially, since (thanks to my roomate's foolishness) we have to come up with two months' rent this month. Debt reduction does include not taking on things you cannot afford.

Hi and Welcome!
I can tell you from personal experience that getting out of debt is HARD but you can do it. And once you are debt free it is the most wonderful thing!

Welcome Deb - you will love it here, I've learned so very much! I strongly suggest the transfer to your own domain, it's scary, but there are so many willing souls to help out.
I came here when I did that, I did a few.. ooops, but that's part of learning! |

I'm actually planning to, just as soon as I can get the funds together. Also, I think I may have to liberate "otherdeb" from the person who was supposed to be setting up a website for me, but got sidetracked by a major depression that he has still not recovered from. But it is in the works!
