Hello all,
I'm Tom, first time poster and have come from the Digital Point forums after seeing a post about here.
I run a number of fansite blogs of which Scarlett Johansson is my main effort at the minute. I hope to pick up so new tips and learn some good methods .

Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself; how long does it take to start getting traffic to these types of sites and have you been doing it for long?

I have been doing female celebrity blogs for about a year, traffic typically can build up quick as soon as you get the content rolling. Take my current blog about Scarlett Johansson, stats are as follows
Month 1 (Dec) = 880 uniques, 1,946 page views
Month 2 (Jan) = 1,009 uniques, 2,193 page views
Month 3 (Feb up to now) = 1,119 uniques, 2,597 page views
so looking to end Feb with about 2000 uniques.

Im getting bored with writing about female celebrities though lol,
so am moving into Sports fansite/blogs
have got two great domains for both Ladainian Tomlinson and Donovan Mcnabb that im currently designing/coding.

Very cool and I'm assuming most of it is search engine?

Intrestingly most of it is not to begin with. This is because of the time lag it takes you to move up the SERPs, I'm only really beginning to see it now in month three of my current site.

Most of my initial traffic comes from You Tube marketing (see video in my sig), heavy StumbleUpon campaigns and link/banner exchanges. As the SERPs improve I swap my efforts.

Crazy and that's not bad page views for date added.

I wonder if / how youtube could be used for a site like this...

Well as you can imagine its quite easy for female celebrities. A few naughty keywords or a few well know celebs and the video is going to get views no matter what the content.

For this site though would be slightly harder. I've found its all about the title on youtube so something attention grabbing (probably not "Sexy Scarlett" for this site lol) will pull the punters in. Then just overlay the URL in the video and put it in the description.

Solid tips thanks for sharing and you're right about if you put up some type of thing about a celebrity you can bet your bottom dollar there is alot more then just one person who wants to know , see it and is actively searching for it lol
