For me personally I would like to remain anonymous. In time i will tell more about myself but I think If your public you can make a better connection with your audience. I think you should always be yourself either way.

I write with a pen name, but if someone knows how to dig they could find out my real one. My blog is about obscure places to travel to so I thought, "Oh well, I might as well be a bit obscure myself". I agree with QuirkyJessi about keeping true to yourself. For me I have to be when I'm out there on some lonely path or I'd never reach my target destination |

Hi, I guess I can see the advantages of both but I like to be public. This is who I am and if you do not like what I am saying then you do not have to read. ~Vikki Last edited by Ben; January 14th, 2012 at 03:33 PM.. Reason: you can add a signature url when you have 15 posts - until then please don't link your blog in every post. thanks! |

Mine's public (except for one time, I had a forum inserted in my blog which I restricted access to just a selected group of players for a virtual game) because it allows my blog to gain more exposure, as well as allowing more comments in the process.

This is kind of a complex topic for me. I have a really controversial blog about hallucinogenic/psychedelic substances and therefore I think it's in my best interest to keep my work and play separated. However, I am transgender and I blog under my preferred name, Joel. Since I am not out of the closet to many people, this is essentially a pseudonym, and only those closest to me would recognize me from my blog. |

I always post as myself. This will create more traffic for your own blog. I do allow anonymous posters to post to my blog though. It's one of my design requests in 5 Annoying Things About Your Blog! |

I post iwth my real name. I think by doing so, the blog gets more personal and I also belief that the audience appreciates it a little more if they know the name of the blogger.

I agree that each have their ups and downs. I started blogging as anonymous at first, but I wanted to get more traffic and promote it to friends and family, which was easier to do as public. Thoughting At Work |

I think, in a way, that presenting yourself and your identity is a great way to make people comfortable with you, it kind turns on its side and makes you feel less comfortable at the same time. I know that more readers might come back to my blog if I showcased more of my human identity. But I am a shy person by nature, and while living in a small town, a little anonymity is like candy! I haven't even told my friends or work mates about my hobby blogging.
