The widget is still on my site, but I do not actively drop. If I come across a card stumbling I'll click, but I don't go out of my way.
I don't really care about my site value. Since I stopped dropping, my traffic has increased. I don't think it caused the increase, but it just shows that it really isn't so bad. Entrecard has sort of settled into a system where the chain dropping just attracts the same people. There is a small core of people who chain drop on each other to boost up their Alexa values and site prices, and a huge number of people who do not bother to drop cards. I know some pretty good sized sites with prices below 30ec. Entrecard is great for when you start, but doesn't do much as you get bigger. The time it takes to drop cards doesn't get you much in terms of traffic if you are getting over 1,000 visitors a day. (less than that probably) I actually did a test comparing the traffic and quality of traffic I get dropping cards compared to taking the same time to write a good post and getting it stumbled. It is no contest. Dropping cards is time which could be better spent on other things. I suggest dropping cards seriously for two weeks if you launch a blog, then back off. |

I had held off droppign and buying adverts until I made my last set of cards. After buying some adds I had a big jump in price for my blog and visitors, but so many are drop and click-through. It doesn't bother me greatly because it just gives me more credits to use later, but I haven't yet managed to do 100 drops in a day.

I dumped Entrecard. It was affecting load times and requires way too much work dropping cards to get anywhere. IMO, it also encourages people to stop, drop and roll. (Stop at your site, drop the card, roll to the next site.)

I agree that dropping cards takes a lot of time which is better spent on content and actually leaving comment...I will not give up on EC because no matter what it brings traffic. I will however reduce my time with dropping and go back on commenting more on blogs.

I still haven't determined weather the traffic received is quality traffic. Right now I believe a higher percentage of visitors don't even look at anything on your blog besides the Entrecard widget itself. There are all sorts of ways to grab attention of visitors, but I'm not sure weather the time and effort is worth it.
Many will argue any traffic is good, and this might be true, however it all depends what type of site you have and what your long term goals are. One of the biggest annoyances I have are with blogs that are loaded with so much useless information and graphics that they take forever to load. The last thing I want to do is waste time waiting for a page to load that has nothing but advertisements, just to drop a card.

Most of my comments sem to be from entrecarders. I suppose that makes it quality.
