I'd hate any job that would involve sitting in front of computer for most of the day and that's why I hate my current job
and why I am against pro-blogging. |
|

Well that's understandable but how exactly do you define problogging. Does making making money out of it make you pro and how much before you can be considered pro?

basically the sky is the limit! the more you know about your topic and the more dedicated you are posting regular premium content the faster your site will grow.Making Money online is obviously a popular niche right now but if you are an expert in something else you could easily make more on that as the market is very saturated and the "guru's" to some extent or another have already established themselves. That being said there is always room for another one and we know it's the next big one may not of even begun yet!! As always I suggest you stick with something you're passionate about. take this forum for instance; albeit not a blog it is something that I am incredibly passionate about so for me it does not feel like work. I could spend all day on this forum and other forums and love it. if I did not love forums I would abandon this a long time ago because to get this place where it is today in a lots of hard work and a lot out of patience. There were days where I would make tones of posts and come back and nothing else would change for a day or so or more. basically what I'm trying to say is if you are passionate about knitting could probably make more money writing a blog about knitting then you ever could about making money online. people can also tell if your genuine and sincere and if you know what you're talking about stick to something you are already a pro and becoming a pro blogger is just a natural progression if you enjoy blogging. what's so beautiful about the Internet is that like never before at your fingertips people from around the world have access to what you have say. You may only have five or six friends who share the same passion as you but the minute you go online is instantly hundreds of thousands to millions of them! I hope this helps, ![]()

if you're writing about to say free diving you could possibly have one of the most respected blogs on the Internet and post once every two or three days. Basically depends on how fierce the competition is for the topic you choose to write about. also as I said earlier if you don't really love the topic it does become work and let's face it part of the reason we all hate work is because the "have to". ![]()

I'm in a position that becoming a "Blog-Pro" is not an option but a necessity. I, and probably thousands of others, have a major disability of one kind or other. Income as we knew it went out the window.
I suppose we could sit back on our collective behinds and say "oh poor is me" and bang our heads against a wall. But I don't see it.I discovered blogs about a year ago. I see all kinds of ads yelling about how to "Monetize Your Blog." That to me is a good idea. Here comes another "However". However, to make a blog pay you must have visitors. To get visitors you must be seen near the top of the search engines. That's the real tricky part. I stumbled on one way that worked pretty good. If you do a google search with the term my futures blog you will see my site in the top 2 spots of around 254,00 sites. That's not bad. My site has only been up for around 3 months. I got that by making videos and putting them on YouTube and about a dozen other video hosting sites. I don't know if it's the right way to do it, but it sure is one way. A note: My blog is starting to pay. All I need to do now is make a few hundred more paying sites. RT...

How many of the pros are making their money off the blogging and advertising itself, as opposed to other for sale services like consulting, speaking, etc. that follow from it?

My blog makes money from writing reviews, adsense and direct advertising. Other income falls into my revenue report but that is out of the topic so that is all i make from my blog.

At the moment, blogging is beginning to take off for me (earning a few days income from it). I'd doubt I'd ever go full time, but I quite easily see myself going part time, and having another job (maybe something completely different) just there for the social side of work (problogging can be quite a lonely task).

Althought blogging seems easy, it takes exhaustive time and efforts to get your blog to the point where you can actually start making money, some months or maybe a year! Most people lose their patience before touching that breaking point.
