Very nice article!

It's true, blogging is probably the most straight forward way to make money online. If you're patient enough to keep at it long enough, eventually you'll make something.

Well, provided you've put ads on your blog (I'm still being stubborn about that).

Thanks Jay!

Regarding ads I'm in no rush to start adding them either. I think it's important to prove to your readers first that you are there because you love doing it and not for the money. Eventually once popularity picks up it's just expected and if your not it's almost like "Why not?" It's always a hard call to know when you should though and it's a fine line between being effective and over the top.

When I add ads to this forum hopefully I can install an adsense sharing plugin so the thread starters can drop their adsense codes in and split 50/50.

I'm probably being too stubborn. My target audience are people new to Internet marketing, so I'm don't want ads that they may think I'm endorsing.

I don't plan to ever ad general ads to the blog, but eventually I'll have to come up with something that fits my standards but still brings in a bit of income.

That would be great...that seems to work well for the few other forums I've seen that do it.

I noticed that in the profile update. So it would be similar to DigitalPoint. I make a couple of cents a day - so I cant complain.

Hopefully very similar at one point. All depends on how many threads you have. Once this forum hits 10,000 - 25,000 posts and a few thousand active I will make the ad block slightly larger. Still in the initial stages.

Default The More Ad Clicks in a Day, the Less Per Click Revenue

If this has been discussed elsewhere my apologies.

Is it the norm that for every few clicks on ad's the revenue per ad click goes down?

I've noticed that trend on my blog. Is that because as Adsense says, they locate the highest paying ads and put them on the blog, so then once they are clicked, then the lower paying ads appear?

If that's the case, would the same highest paying ad at the start of the day not reappear to a new visitor?

See what I'm getting at?

Appreciate the clarification on how all this ad revenue is supposed to work.

Many thanks!

Default adsense smartpricing

I know that the higher number of impressions you get, there is a risk of being smart priced. This means you will not receive as much revenue for your ads.

That makes a lot of sense; could you expand on that please?
