20. Above all else, write about topics that people actually want to read. Better yet, write about topics that people will be interested in sharing. One of the biggest features of the blog community is that a good post will be passed on, talked about and even blogged about. So blog about interesting things that are worth talking about.

Try to follow the rule the tabloids use..."Hey Martha!" stories. That's what they call the stories that make Pa yell over his shoulder "Hey Martha! C'mere...you gotta read this!"

If you get that effect, then you'll have to beat the traffic back with a stick.

I've done all of your points I think but think that they are absolutely essential to anyone new to blogging. I agree that it really is important to become an expert in your field - and that means doing the boring part of researching and reading up on your topics as well as the fun part of posting and watching your visitors grow.

Sometimes an article you write that you think won't attract a lot of attention ends up being your most favoured article and others that you think will cause a strom end up being largely ignored.

I think people are looking to read quick articles. I don't think most people want to read beyond 500-1000 words per post. I am not sure making super long posts is a good idea.

I'm kidding of course (or am I? ) but I just made my own post on my blogsite that lists the top 5 ways to improve traffic.
I feel that the 5 I have listed summarize the information you had by condensing into 5 posts.
