It is getting to the point that it is essential for a business to have a blog. If a companies business has anything to do with the internet they are going to need a blog to keep up with their competitors.

It's important to be able to communicate with your customers. Also if something happens it WILL get into the blogosphere why not let people hear it from the horses mouth instead of some blogger who may or may not have a hidden agenda / axe to grind?

When having a business blog though it's important to talk about the product etc... If you make it too personal you could alienate people.

for me blog is a medium for you to present your site/ services the easy way because blogs are the ones who got easier index rather than the site itself

Blogs are also a great way to organize information in a chronological order.

Blogging is profitable if you write something which is very unique and important. Bloggers are earning lots of money. Last year one blogger earned 1 million dollar in a year.
But, in my point of view it is very difficult task to earn money using blogs. You require lots of patience and luck to earn money using it.

You're right. It's not an overnight thing and now with all the buzz there are tens of thousands of blogs being added daily I believe. You have to be passionate about it and like most things success comes after most would of given up.

Still room for lot's of new entrants just need to be original.

I agree that business flow may be determined by luck if you are using a business blog. I would say that one should also advertise their business blog after creating one so that more people can get to know more on what is being advertised or announced in the blog.
I think another problem why some business flow is slow is that many people tend to be worried about whether is the company for real.

Agreed, I'd say the #1 reasons any online venture fails is that the owner makes it then sits back and waits; the whole "if you build it they will come" only works if you make sure they know about it.
