I just read somewhere that suggested putting a donations link to your blog. Doesn't this look a little pathetic and isn't it against Adsense policy. Anyone doing this and how much so they make?

I don't know if it is against Adsense rules. I certainly don't think I would put a donations link on my blog.

If you mean Donations as far as PayPal buttons, it has nothing to do with AdSense - it doesn't matter. I wouldn't do it, though. No one is just going to give you money unless you're collecting for a cause and proving to people that you're giving to a certain charity or something. Usually only big blogs do this. I, personally, wouldn't do this. I think it looks kind of desperate and unprofessional.

Actually... I have a pay pal donation button on my blog. I have received donations from it too, not a whole lot, but enough to buy several cups of coffee. I really don't care if it makes my blog seem pathetic. lol... My blog is strong enough and classy enough to stand up to any pathetic glances... lol I mean come on get real here, what is the difference... Adsense that nobody clicks on because it is obviously an ad to make money with no matter how prettily we try to cover it up and a pay pal button.. The only reason why you shouldn't put one on there is if you don't want to make any money with your blog. ~K |

Okay, I understand. I think if you play the donate button just right it will come across well, but its a fine line. Since I don't even have any paying ads on my site, I 'm making just as much money from donations as I am from ads: none.

I probably won't do it but I'd think that if people saw it, they'd click adsense to get you more money which is why I thought it would be against adsense rules

I think the only people who would think to click on you adsense to earn you money would be people who have adsense themselves and really love you. And most people don't have adsense, so they wouldn't think to click on it so that you earn money.

| I guess that makes sense. It would be a very fine line, though.

As for adsense ads...Either blog visitors click on it to help you or not. Doesn't really matter, Adsense ads are actually pretty ugly. It isn't against the rules to have a paypal donation button, or private pay ads either, it is against the tos to use something like adbright etc. The only people that know about adsense are someone else that knows how it works on their sites. They train themselves not to click so they do not accidentally click on theirs. I have also heard that adsense ads are going out, not as impressive anymore, because people won't click on them. I will eventually only have private paying ads on my site. I have a certain look I am going for.. and the adsense ads are really not it, but will do for now. ~K |
