Well I don't really know an awful lot about smart pricing but I believe it's something to do with the likelihood of receiving more clicks if you have higher impressions, so google have figured out a way to save money.

Makes sense... They aren't already making enough money off that ad network. I read somewhere it's not that they have the best ad network it's that they have the best reach so obviously everyone uses it over others.

Default Blogging For Profit

Nice article Bloggeries. It really gives a nice look at how to make your own blogs profitable.

I don't really use a lot of Adsense on my blogs or websites. Just a little bit. I mainly monetize my blogs with affiliate programs first, then add just a small amount of Adsense. It has been my experience that I see a much higher conversion rate by doing this. The Adsense ads I do use, I will tweak so that they don't "appear" like your standard ads. If people come to yor blog and see a bunch of Adsense, they will most likely click the back button.

"If you want to drive people away, use Adsense..." Someone once told me this.

Just my 2 cents.

Good point, I was thinking of using Kontera on this forum but heard that Kontera is too in your face and turns people away which is a shame as adsense makes almost nothing unless you in a high paying niche.

i heard that about Kontera, too. I'm not too familiar with them. I've read a bit and checked it out, but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Ill stick with my proven guns, WP and Blogger.

Interesting comment, bloggies.

What are 'high paying niches'? How does one find out which are these?

What type of revenue per click are considered 'high paying' for Adsense?

I've had ranges from $0.10 per click to just over a full $1.00 per click. Appreciate hearing back from you and others on this.

Thanks!

There are a lot of high paying niches. Some of the most popular are insurance, health and beauty...
I have had some adsense ads on a blog a long time ago that had clicks worth up $20 and up.

Typically High Paying = Travel, Health, Lawyers, Divorces, Cancer, Diseases that type of thing. Stuff that people advertising can make big money on... Sad but true.

An interesting article. I would say that blogging is definitely a straightforward way to make money online. It requires very little technical knowledge on how to run a website.

I may suggest that Bloggeries team create an article about which is the best affiliate program (like Adsense) a blogger should engage in
