I'm sorry that I do not have your answer but I would say the best move you could make would be to host your own blog on your own domain name. With the advertising you could add it would pay for itself.

I did a quick Google search and didn't find anything. Usually people go the other way.

The only way to put ads in a Wordpress account is to get a real self-hosted Wordpress account. If you want to go the free way, though, you have to go Blogger.

I picked up a wordpress blog when I purchased a ptc site, got the blog for free. It is set up as a free account, so if I upgrade the site to be on my server I can add adsense ads?

If you host your own word press blog on your own domain, there is nothing to stop you from running any ads you might choose on it. Now if you are setting up a wordpress blog through wordpress.com, then you are bound by their TOS and that means no ads.
