Hey Nathan,
I've changed to putting more emphasis on keywords in my blog's posts' titles and have seen increase in both Google searches as well as with Google Alerts.

Default Re: Getting blog content in Google Alerts

I have used Google Alerts for the past year. There is no trick to it. Google filters out sites after it has already alerted the recipient about that site. This is why there are companies like Filtrbox that are doing the same thing, but with much more sophistication.

What you get in your Google Alerts is different then what I get in mine - for the same keyword. Just like Google manipulates the results of SERPs based on user, geographic location, IP, surfing history, etc., so too does it with it's Alerts program. You can cancel your alert and then next week set it up again and you site will show up. But really, there is no way to game the alert system as the alerts for the same keyword are different for everyone. I use alerts not so much to see my site, but to find out who else is blogging in that niche/keyword and then reading and commenting on their blogs.
